What struck me about Soleau Software was its statement about the games it produces: nonviolent. So I decided to try one of these games. In Crusher Castle II you have to escape from a sort of dungeon consisting of 25 rooms. Every room is filled with treasures, candles (don't run out of them if you want keep on playing), bombs (yes, bombs), secret passageways, magic cats, closets hiding surprises, moveable boxes and dangerous ghosts. No weapons. And the bombs? They are not used to get rid of ghosts (which, if they catch you, get rid of you), but to blow up the boxes obstacoling you. Ghost are eliminated by trapping them between boxes, which you can move in every direction but diagonally (remember the game "Sokoban"?). Once trapped, the ghost disappears. When you reach the first 10000 points, you will rewarded with a hint and a bonus life. Such a pity that the save game options is disabled in the unregistered version. Well, even if you don't shoot, cut, or disintegrate anything (or anybody), the game is enjoying and addictive as well. You'll find yourself thinking about the best strategy to cut off ghosts from your track by moving some boxes, as to build a hedge between you and them. In other words, you'll find yourself using your mind in a constructive manner, something not to be ignored nowadays.
